At 12:51 pm, Station 17 was activated for an animal rescue in the area of High Road in Allenport Borough. Caller was a contractor that reported hearing a cat meowing in the area of a drain pipe in the foundation of a residence. Chief 17 arrived on scene and confirmed a kitten was trapped approximately 4 ft down a pipe in the ground. Squad 17 arrived on scene with a full crew and began extrication. After trying several different ideas, the pipe was cut off inside the basement of the residence and we were able to push the kitten to the end where firefighter & animal specialist, Maria Wright, was able to remove it from the pipe. Crews were on scene for approximately 4 hours. Great work to our firefighters on this tricky situation. The feline was returned to its owners safe and sound!
