At 12:28 pm, we were activated on a first alarm assignment to assist station 16, roscoe, on a large barn on fire in Long Branch Borough. Crews arrived on scene and confirmed the dispatch. It was a hay bale storage barn on the second floor with a tractor and other equipment on the first floor. Due to the area being rural, there’s no hydrants or city water in Long Branch Borough limits, so immediately tankers were called in to assist with water. Several valley departments were called in to assist with manpower and equipment. Crews worked for roughly 6.5 hours to contain and extinguish the multiple fires and hot spots inside the barn. Great work to all & special thanks to Monessen Volunteer Fire Department Hose House #2 for providing an engine and crew for standby in our station while our firefighters were away on the call.
